The Course
MGT 960: Economic Analysis of High-Tech Industries has been a popular elective taught at Yale SOM by Ted and Logan starting January 2020 until Fall 2024. 960 applied Industrial Organization frameworks from economics to four major verticals (mobility, eCommerce, video streaming, and payments) across three geographies (China, EU, and US) to develop insights about how high-tech industries are organized, firm-level strategies, and valuations of firms. The course also investigated how major forces like the development of 5G networks are likely to change these industries. Global in both outlook and student composition, 960 was a hybrid class composed equally of Yale students based in New Haven and GNAM member school students based across several continents, who joined the live course from as many as 9 time zones.
