YouTube channel, iPad app, and Apple Store

Technology abounds here in New Haven! Although perhaps not the first place people think of when they think of tech hot spots, with the wealth of pharma and biotech firms in the region (drawn in large part by Yale and its strength in the bio-sciences), the Science Park incubator a few blocks from Yale SOM, and the many technology-related ventures connected to Yale (such as Yale's Office of Cooperative Research, the tech transfer arm of the University that patents and commercializes Yale research, and with which Yale SOM students are frequently involved), there's quite a lot happening in the tech space in and around New Haven. In keeping with this technology theme, I wanted to highlight a few new ways we're leveraging technology to help people connect with Yale SOM. First, the School recently unveiled its own YouTube channel, which offers videos that provide insights into faculty research, guest speakers on campus, and the overall MBA experience here at Yale. Watch the most recent video of Keith Chen, associate professor of economics, as he leads students through the first day of Basics of Economics.

In addition, we brought our new Portrait iPad app live last week. This app is a mobile, interactive version of our Portrait catalog, and is a terrific way to learn more about Yale SOM. And the final sign that New Haven has hit the big-time technologically? The new downtown Apple Store opened this past Saturday next to the Yale Bookstore.
