Celebrating Veterans Day at Yale SOM

How Yale and SOM are marking the occasion.

Yale observed Veterans Day on Friday, November 10 by honoring the Yale staff, faculty, student, and alumni veterans and paying tribute to all who have served our country.

Our annual Yale Veterans Day ceremony was held in Hewitt University Triangle, featuring speakers including President Salovey, Secretary and Vice President for Student Life Kimberly Goff-Crews, and Yale College student and U.S. Air Force veteran Robert Atkinson. Jack Beecher will received the “Veterans Day Tribute” in recognition of his support for Yale veterans, and a brass quartet  performed echoing taps and the national and service anthems.

At Yale SOM, our Veterans Club hosted events throughout the week, including an opportunity for veterans to candidly share their experiences, an MRE (Meals, Ready to Eat) tasting, and a Closing Bell. In addition, the Beinecke Rare Book and Manuscript Library hosted an exhibit of archival materials showcasing the experiences of military and veteran communities at Yale and in New Haven.

Yale University has a strong commitment to welcoming and supporting servicepeople, a commitment closely tied to Yale SOM's mission to educate leaders for business and society. Join us today for a moment of remembrance as we honor those who have served and those who have fallen for our country.
