The application form should take approximately 30 minutes to complete. Select applicants will be invited to participate in brief interviews with current members of the Management Team.

Management Team Positions 

This is an exciting opportunity to gain hands on experience leading a nascent impact fund. The 2024-2025 Management Team will build on our inaugural year's work to:

  • Hone fund strategy and investment theses
  • Refine and strengthen fund operations
  • Recruit and train future fund Deal Team Leads and Deal Team Members
  • Build and strengthen the fund's relationships across Yale and the broader impact investing community  
  • Shape and direct educational opportunities for all fund members
  • Liaise and collaborate with key stakeholders within SOM's administration and with the fund's Investment Committee and Advisors
  • Much more!

Requirements: Management Team members must be MBA students (either SOM-only or joint-degree) who will be enrolled full-time during the 2024-2025 academic year. No previous, direct experience is required, however applicants should be excited about and dedicated to the fund's threefold mission:

  1. Deliver competitive financial returns
  2. Achieve measurable positive impact; and 
  3. Create an enduring community of impact-oriented leaders.

See below for a description of each role and the current team members:

  • Chief Investment Officer - Finance: Manage the overall investment strategy and help Deal Teams brainstorm and test an investment thesis for their sector. Meet regularly with deal teams to review opportunities, and test financial assumptions. Help refine investment memos and assist deal teams in preparing for presentations to the Investment Committee. Current CIO-Finance: Lee Larson (lee.larson@yale.edu)
  • Chief Investment Officer - Impact: Manage the overall investment strategy and help Deal Teams brainstorm and test an impact thesis for their sector. Meet regularly with deal teams to review opportunities, and test impact assumptions. Help refine investment memos and assist deal teams in preparing for presentations to the Investment Committee. Current CIO-Impact: Neha Jain (n.jain@yale.edu)
  • Chief Operating Officer: Manage the fund’s systems and organization. Includes our CRM + Deal Tracking (Airtable), fund communication (Whatsapp), resource database (shared drive), and task management. Goal of maintaining efficient and intuitive systems while ensuring work and learnings are well-documented for future members. Current COO: Grace Aranow (grace.aranow@yale.edu)
  • Platforms Lead: Build partnerships with investors, accelerators, and sector experts throughout Yale and beyond. Oversee Fund communications and branding. Works with investment teams to identify opportunities to leverage the Yale network to better support portfolio companies. Current Platforms Leads: Alex Baker-Brown (alexandra.bakerbrown@yale.edu) and Monica Charletta (monica.charletta@yale.edu)
  • Training & People Lead: Establish a training curriculum for new deal team members to get up to speed on impact investing in the venture capital context. Maintain a knowledge database from prior learnings and experiences to apply on future deals. Serve as a resource to students working across the fund to foster a healthy and inclusive culture.   • Chief of Staff: The core accountability officer for the fund. Manages the fund’s internal budget. Schedules and runs regular mgmt + investment team meetings, serves as the point of liaison with the IC, and serves as a thought partner to students working across the fund. *this is a new position for the 2024-2025 year*
