Event Dispatch: Painting, Sipping, and Unwinding

What was the event? A “paint and sip” event organized by OCED! I think it’s important that they put on events where students can socialize, especially with all the pressure from recruiting and academic studies. It gives us a chance to mingle, connect, and just have a good time with our friends.
Who showed up? Lots of first-years and a few second-years! There was another event happening at the same time—a movie night—so some students were there instead.
What happened? There were snacks, drinks, and canvases for painting. Initially, I thought this was going to be a class led by an instructor, but it was actually more freestyle. You could paint a pre-drawn canvas, which a lot of us did; or they had empty canvases, where you could be more creative.
Best moment? I liked that I was able to sit down with my classmates and talk. Yes, it’s a “paint and sip,” but we’re also having good conversations about life, about academics, about books. We don’t get to do this too often, because everybody is so busy.
Who should go next time? Anybody who wants to be creative or is looking for an activity to help them relax and unwind. If you’re looking to connect with friends, this is a great way to do that. Most of the time, we meet each other for coffee, tea, or lunch—but it’s nice to have an activity to do together.
