A group of SOM students and partners touring the Yale University Art Gallery

Event Dispatch: Absorbing Yale’s World-Class Art Collection

MAM student Duurenzaya Bukhbat ’26 and his partner, Bujinlkham Bandikhuu, joined the Partners Club, which offers events, support, and connection for partners of SOM students, for a guided tour of the Yale University Art Gallery.

In this series, students answer quickfire questions about events across campus.

Event: Yale University Art Gallery Tour
Host: Partners Club
Location: Yale University Art Gallery
Date: March 8, 2026

What was the event?

Duurenzaya: This was a Yale University Art Gallery tour.
Bujinlkham: Organized by Partners Club!

Who showed up?

Bujinlkham: Mainly partners, since this is spring break.
Duurenzaya: Most of the students are doing a Global Network Week or International Experience, so they’re gone.
Bujinlkham: We saw the event on CampusGroups. Also, we have a Partners Club community on WhatsApp, and they share great updates and events all the time. It’s a good space to catch up with all the partners, and sometimes their partners—students—as well.

What happened?

Duurenzaya: We went to three exhibitions, and our guide had us focus on one piece in each. It was a very interactive event. She had us describe what we were seeing, and then she explained the context and background.
Bujinlkham: It’s a pretty unique experience. It’s different than just going alone. If you go with a group, you’re able to hear others’ opinions. They might notice things I don’t see—and vice versa.

Best moment?

Duurenzaya: I liked the first piece.
Bujinlkham: The ancient mosaic?
Duurenzaya: Yeah. I thought it was part of a wall, but it turned out to be a piece of a floor. That was interesting.
Bujinlkham: It was good to sit down and focus on one piece at a time. I think that’s the point of art galleries! I’ll definitely come back. I’ve been to the gallery before a few times, but there are new exhibitions every semester.

Who should go next time?

Bujinlkham: Student partners! Sometimes they don’t have time, or are shy because of language or cultural barriers, but everyone should feel welcome. Everyone will eventually move to other cities or back to their countries, so it’s good to connect while we’re here. I’ve been to a lot of Partners Club events, and I often meet new people. For example, I met Lavender, an MBA student, for the first time today!
Duurenzaya: If you’re interested in art, you’ll always learn something new here.
