Three Health Equity Leaders Complete Pozen-Commonwealth Fund Fellowship
The program celebrated the graduating fellows in May.

Last month, Dr. Sherise Rogers ’25, Dr. Lou Hart ’25, and Dr. Amon Rodgers ’25 completed two years of study at Yale SOM through a fellowship designed to help them expand the impact of their work addressing inequities in healthcare.
The three are the latest graduates of the Pozen-Commonwealth Fund Fellowship in Health Equity Leadership, which provides healthcare professionals committed to health equity the opportunity to earn a degree from Yale SOM’s MBA for Executives program and get specialized training in health equity issues.
On May 1, the fellows gathered with program leadership and with Robert and Liz Pozen—whose support helped make the fellowship possible—to celebrate the completion of the program.
“Congratulations to this year’s graduating fellows: Dr. Sherise Rogers, Dr. Lou Hart, and Dr. Amon Rodgers,” said Dr. Marcella Nunez-Smith, director of the fellowship. “Already tremendously accomplished in their own rights, they are now poised to deliver significant and positive change to our healthcare system. We were enormously honored that Robert and Liz Pozen, whose generous contributions along with the Commonwealth Fund support the program, joined our graduates in person for this year’s celebration, delivering an inspiring fireside chat.”
Dr. Howard Forman, co-founder and special advisor to the fellowship, added, “Congratulations to the fifth cohort of Pozen Commonwealth Fund Fellows from the MBA for Executives program. As you join a group of dedicated fellowship alumni, we are confident that you will continue to keep this important work going and make a difference in the lives of those who need it most.”
Hart is a pediatric hospitalist and medical director of health equity in the Yale New Haven Health System, as well as a faculty member at the Yale School of Medicine. “The fellowship and EMBA program redefined both my perspective and sense of purpose,” he said. “I leave with deep gratitude and a renewed confidence to lead change at scale. With sharper financial insight, strategic discipline, and analytical tools, I graduate more committed than ever to disrupting legacy systems and building a more just and innovative future for healthcare.”
Rogers recently joined Brown University’s Division of Hematology/Oncology as a faculty member and associate director for community outreach and engagement.
“The Pozen-Commonwealth Fund Fellowship and EMBA program sharpened my ability to drive innovation and lead operational change in complex healthcare systems,” she said. “Through this experience, I gained new tools to analyze systemic challenges, mobilize cross-sector collaboration, and implement practical solutions. Moving forward, I’m especially excited to harness AI and emerging technologies to design scalable, equity-driven models that improve access, efficiency, and outcomes across the continuum of care.”
Rodgers is a family medicine physician and a faculty member at Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science in Los Angeles. “The Pozen-Commonwealth Fund Fellowship and the Yale EMBA program have provided me with a robust and powerful framework to make the business case for health equity,” he said. “I leave this space with lifelong friends that share a common goal of improving the health of communities nationwide and globally.”
