K. Sudhir, the James L. Frank ’32 Professor of Marketing, Private Enterprise, and Management at Yale School of Management, has been elected president of the INFORMS Society for Marketing Science (ISMS).

ISMS is the Marketing Society of the Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences (INFORMS)—the largest professional association for the decision and data sciences. ISMS advances scholarly research in quantitative marketing, fosters connections between marketing academics and industry leaders, and supports professional development across the field.

Sudhir will serve a six-year leadership term: two years as president-elect, two years as president, and two years as past-president, during which he will mentor and support new leaders of the society.

Sudhir joined Yale in 2001 after spending three years on the faculty at NYU and earning his PhD in marketing from Cornell University; he has helped steer SOM’s marketing group through a period of rapid growth. His early research focused on developing foundational structural models for customer relationship management, marketing channels, organizational buying, and sales and service management. Over the past decade, his focus has expanded to tackle marketing questions that quantitative data alone cannot address using theory-informed machine learning and artificial intelligence.

Sudhir served as Editor-in-Chief of Marketing Science from 2016 to 2021 and was elected an ISMS Fellow in 2023.
