What does impact look like in your career?

My aspirations have always centered around creating meaningful impact within the energy and power sectors, which I view as essential drivers of both economic growth and environmental sustainability. I pursued investment banking with a specific focus on power, utilities, and infrastructure. I wanted to work on projects that not only generate financial value, but also contribute to the long-term evolution of the energy landscape.

I’ve had opportunities to work on financing and strategic advisory projects that support the growth of renewable energy companies; assist strategic and financial sponsors in acquiring or divesting assets or platforms; and help utility companies optimize their capital structures and realize various strategic goals. While I’m proud of the work I’ve accomplished, I’m even more excited about the continued opportunity to drive positive change in the energy sector.

What’s a lesson from Yale SOM that has helped you on your career path since graduation?

One of the most valuable lessons I took away from Yale SOM is the importance of considering diverse perspectives, especially in complex decision-making processes. The raw case approach at SOM, where we were pushed to analyze real-world problems from multiple angles, taught me to embrace different viewpoints and challenge assumptions. This lesson has been especially useful in my investment banking career. The ability to view issues from different lenses has made me a more effective advisor, allowing me to craft solutions that address the diverse needs of clients in the power, utilities, and infrastructure sectors.

Have there been unexpected benefits from your SOM education?

The emphasis on collaboration and team-based learning at Yale SOM has had surprising benefits. While I anticipated that SOM’s rigorous academic curriculum would prepare me for technical challenges, I didn’t realize how much it would enhance my ability to work effectively with people from diverse backgrounds and perspectives. This skill has proven invaluable in investment banking, where teamwork is essential. Whether collaborating with colleagues in finance or coordinating with clients and other stakeholders such as legal and operations teams, the ability to communicate clearly, build consensus, and work towards common goals has been a significant advantage for me.

What are you passionate about in your work?

I am deeply passionate about helping my clients solve their most complex challenges in ways that are both effective and impactful. The power, utilities, and infrastructure sectors are undergoing profound transformations, driven by the rise of renewable energy, sustainability initiatives, and evolving regulatory landscapes. I find it incredibly rewarding to work with clients at the forefront of these changes, helping them navigate this dynamic environment.
