Seed Funding with the EMBA Class of 2014!

As the class of 2014 integrates back into society post MBA, many of our classmates continue to impress in new capacities. As a class, we set and achieved many lofty goals. Yet, one of the final goals we set forth was to fundraise in parallel with a charity providing opportunities for children with life threatening illnesses. The mission was to raise apple funds to support a child on their "wish."

During our final semester at SOM, a dozen of us developed a strategy to reach this goal. We campaigned for donations and negotiated with corporations for products for what we presumed was the first silent auction in the history of Evans Hall. The auction was a huge success with the support from our class, the Class of 2015, the administration and faculty.  During our final class weekend, the Class of 2015 honored the tradition of hosting the outgoing class, this time at the famous Frank Pepe Pizzeria. At the event, a final raffle spear headed by Al Kurose ’14, put us over our fundraising goal.

Through sheer coincidence, we happened to close our fundraising as Children’s Wishes planned to send a young computer programmer, Kyle to Google.  I am happy to report that the funds raised directly supported Kyle’s trip to Silicon Valley.

To say that Kyle had a wonderful time would be an understatement.

The experience of going to Google was unexplainable; I cannot sum up the right words on how breath taking it was. All of you helped me accomplish one of my dreams.

I learned what Google values in their employees and the experience helped me pave my path to a successful life and I couldn't have obtained that future without you.  I am forever grateful for that, and I hope one day I can help someone in the same way.

Best of luck on your future adventures Kyle, keep working hard and great things will happen. Hopefully, the future brings us more opportunities to support wonderful candidates like Kyle.

Get involved in the next adventure.
