On July 24, the Yale EMBA team welcomed the Class of 2017. This is a landmark class in several ways: with 63 students, it represents a record enrollment for the program, 40% of its students were born outside of the U.S., and—my personal favorite statistic—41% are women.

Yale SOM has a distinctive approach to management education. Classes are small, and the curriculum and teaching are rooted in rich discussion. Even the classrooms in Evans Hall are designed to facilitate exchange, in their layout, sightlines, and acoustics. All of that means that students in the MBA for Executives program get to benefit from the perspectives and the extraordinary experiences of fellow students.

As Director of Admissions for the Yale MBA for Executives program I have the privilege of meeting with outstanding professionals who have worked hard to advance in their careers and make an impact in their fields. Despite their success and many competing priorities in increasingly complex lives, they seem to yearn for more, to step up and do more, to develop as leaders and make a greater impact to their organizations, industries, communities and to society as a whole.
