MAM FAQ

To apply to the MAM program, applicants must either be enrolled or have recently graduated with an MBA degree from a top business school, including those in the Global Network for Advanced Management.

We will be accepting applications from MBA students from business schools outside of the Global Network for Advanced Management during Round 2 and 3 of admissions.

Applicants must complete the online application form, provide transcripts from every college or university attended, submit one professional recommendation and one support letter from their MBA school, complete video questions, essay questions, provide an official GMAT or GRE score, and pay the application fee. 

The standard application fee is $95 USD.

Yes, applicants must submit an official GMAT or GRE score as part of the application. Applications will not be reviewed without a GMAT or GRE score. There is no minimum score required to apply to Yale SOM.

We do not calculate an average GMAT score for our applicants. There is no minimum score required to apply to Yale SOM.

You do not need to submit official, paper transcripts or the corresponding degree certification to apply. We allow applicants to upload scanned transcripts and degree certificates. If you are currently taking classes at your MBA school, we ask that you please submit your most recent official grades.

If you are admitted, you will need to submit official transcripts and the corresponding degree certificates to enroll. The degree certificate must indicate the type of degree conferred, the institution/location from which you received the degree, and the date of degree confirmation. Please note that if your transcript indicates this information, there is no need to provide us with an additional degree certificate.

The application requires two recommendations, one professional recommendation, ideally from your most recent supervisor, and one from your MBA school indicating you are/were in good academic standing. Please select recommenders who know you well and can speak to your strengths. Do not choose recommenders simply because they are in high-level executive positions at your company.

Yes, all applicants who are offered admission will have had an interview. Interviews are granted by invitation of the Admissions Committee, and conducted over Zoom.

No, the TOEFL, PTE Academic, or IELTS exam is not required for international applicants.

Yes, non-English transcripts should be translated into English. If your institution does not provide an English translation with the transcript, you should obtain a notarized English translation.

The MAM program is designed for early to mid-career professionals. Documented work experience will only strengthen your application. The average age of an MAM student is 32 years old.

If you have applied within the last two years, you do not need to submit transcripts or recommendations, but you can and should resubmit test scores (GMAT or GRE) if your scores have improved. You are required to submit a new application, new essays, pay the application fee, and complete the video questions. Although it is not required, you may want to submit new recommendations if they would provide insight into your candidacy since your last application.

If you applied more than two years ago, you will need to submit an entirely new application and provide all required materials.

Candidates should apply when you feel you can submit your best application. If you are rushing to finish your application by the Round 1 deadline and feel you can use extra time, apply in Round 2 instead. There is no difference in chances of being admitted in Rounds 1 versus Round 2 or 3. 

Please note, Round 1 will be exclusively reserved for applicants from Global Network for Advanced Management schools. Round 2 and 3 will be open to applicants from other business schools.

Once you submit you application online, you will be able to check your online status by signing in with your email address and password. You will then be able to see which materials our office received and which are still awaiting. It can take up to a week to receive your official test scores.

Invitations to interview are sent via email through the round in which you apply. The Admissions Committee will extend invitations within four weeks of your applications submission. The timing of your interview invitation has no bearing on the outcome of your application.

Applicants will receive their decision by close of business (5:00p.m. ET) on the decision date. For a list of this year’s application and decision dates, please visit the Admissions page.

All applicants are automatically considered for a merit scholarship. There is no need to take any additional steps during the application process to be considered. If you are awarded a scholarship, you will be notified at the same time you learn of your admission to the program. Please visit Affording Your MAM page for more information.

There is no academic preparation needed for the interview. The interview is used to get to know you further as a candidate as you have a conversation with a member of our Admissions team.

Yes, orientation is mandatory for all incoming students. Orientation takes place a few weeks before classes begin. No exceptions can be made and there is no online option, so please be sure to make necessary arrangements with any current jobs, programs, etc.

No, there are many Yale transportation and public transportation options in the New Haven area, so a car is not required.
