Yale University created the first joint management-environment degree in 1982, recognizing the importance of integrating the two disciplines. The joint-degree program is intended to prepare business leaders and environmental managers with the tools to address the complex relationship between markets and the environment.
The joint-degree program offers an MBA in combination with either a master of environmental management (MEM) or a master of forestry (MF).

Joint-degree students spend one of the first two years at Yale SOM, during which they take the integrated MBA curriculum, and the other at the Yale School of the Environment (YSE). In the third year, they take electives at both schools.
Admissions
Joint-degree applicants must apply to and be admitted to both programs independently. Applicants may apply to both programs simultaneously, apply to Yale YSE during their first year at Yale SOM, or apply to Yale SOM during their first year at Yale YSE.

The Center provides a platform for generating, incubating, and launching innovative action at the intersection of business and the environment, convening the diverse resources and skillsets from across Yale SOM and Yale YSE. The Center administers this joint-degree program and serves as a hub for its activities.
