Excerpts

Bridget Perry ’99: (03:12) I took what I had learned in a number of my classes from negotiation and strategy and economics and applied a lot of that skill set and that critical thinking to some real-world business problems. And I think that when you bring together different perspectives and different ways of approaching problems across teams, that's really what it takes. And that's kind of how I ended up approaching a lot of the work that I've done in consulting. And then since then in industry working in the tech space.

Bridget Perry ’99: (08:26) It's not about that it's really about learning and growing and it's about curiosity and approaching whatever you're doing with this growth mindset.

Bridget Perry ’99: (06:51) Some good examples of opportunities in the tech sector, and this is probably true in other sectors as well, there's a whole wide range of jobs, whether they're in the area of product development and management, all the way to product marketing or digital marketing. These are all disciplines within the marketing function that require individuals who have good data and analytics skills, good critical thinking skills, good research insights and analysis and a great entry level position out of business school that require people who have the skills coming with an MBA. So I think it's never been a better time to pursue marketing because the industry is changing so fast.

Bridget Perry ’99: (15:55) My whole view on work-life balance is that it's up to you to create it for yourself...It’s really important for women who are growing their careers, women who have families. I finally came to this recognition after I had my kids for a few years and my career started to grow. I had this recognition that I couldn't do it myself, that I actually had to ask for help and I had to kind of build that around me in order to be able to do things like travel for my job or be able to do things like occasionally work late. And so I think those are two important things that you own work-life balance herself and that you can't do it by yourself. You need a support team.
