The Master of Advanced Management Class of 2014, the second class to enter the program, arrives at Yale SOM on August 19. The MAM program at Yale SOM brings together students from around the world for an intensive year of study designed to deepen their understanding of management practice and major trends in global business.
The students in the program, chosen from top MBA students and recent graduates from Global Network for Advanced Management member schools, create their own independent courses of study, choosing from electives at SOM and around Yale. The group also takes the MAM core curriculum; classes include off-the-record conversations with senior executives and seminars featuring leading thinkers from around Yale. The students also participate in an advanced version of Yale SOM’s Leadership Development Program, which includes classroom study of the latest thinking on leadership and a hands-on, real-life challenge that allows them to put what they’ve learned into practice.
MAM students integrate fully in life at SOM, taking classes with MBA students, joining clubs, and working with others at Yale on outside projects and initiatives. The result is an experience that enhances the students’ MBA learning and transforms and widens their view of the business world. “For me it’s not, ‘Why would you do it?’” said Davinia Anderson MAM ’13. “It’s, ‘Why on earth, given the chance to come here, would you not do it?’”
