Justin Elicker, a 2010 graduate of Yale SOM, won the Democratic Party primary for New Haven mayor on September 10, defeating incumbent Toni Harp. According to the New Haven Independent, Elicker won 58.2% of the vote.
Since graduating from Yale SOM’s joint degree program with the Yale School of Forestry & Environmental Studies, Elicker has served two terms on New Haven Board of Alders and led the New Haven Land Trust. He ran for mayor in 2013, losing to Harp in the Democratic primary and again in the general election.
Elicker will face two independent candidates in the general election on November 5. Harp has been endorsed by the Working Families party but has not yet announced whether she will run on the party’s ballot line.
