Every week, accomplished alumni and other leaders visit Edward P. Evans Hall at the invitation of student clubs, sharing career advice and insights into their industries. Here are a few of the speakers who visited the school during the week of December 4.
Monday, December 4
A panel of Yale SOM alumni discussed their roles in corporate finance during an event hosted by the General Management Club.
Tuesday, December 5
The Retail and Marketing Clubs co-hosted a panel discussion with alumni working in the beauty, CPG, and e-commerce industries, including Jennie Liu ’07, executive director of Yale SOM’s Center for Customer Insights and former executive director and head of account management in North America for Clinique; Rachel Clark ’16, associate brand manager of Fresh Bakery, Pepperidge Farm; and Feng Chang ’12, director of digital strategy for Rue La La.
The Energy Club hosted a lunch event with Daniel Gross YC ’92, MBA/MEM ’98, professor at Yale School of Forestry & Environmental Studies, during which Gross discussed his career, energy-related careers in general, and current events in the energy world.
Wednesday, December 6
Ann Fox, CEO of Nine Energy; former managing director, SCF Partners; and former captain, U.S. Marine Corps, visited Yale SOM as a guest of the Veterans Club and Women in Management to speak as part of the groups’ Leadership Symposium series. Her talk was followed by a question-and-answer session moderated by Samantha Degnan ’18.
The Retail Club hosted a talk by Tracy Gardner, former president of J. Crew and current board member of Gap Inc. Gardner also has industry experience as a board member of Lands’ End and CEO of Delia’s.
Antony Bugg-Levine, CEO of the Nonprofit Finance Fund, and Dave Wilkinson, commissioner of the Office of Early Education in Connecticut and former director of the White House Office of Social Innovation and Civic Participation, discussed their recent book, What Matters: Investing in Results to Build Strong, Vibrant Communities, during an Social Impact Lab-sponsored event.
