The Yale SOM course Global Financial Crisis, taught by Deputy Dean Andrew Metrick and former Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner, is now available as an online course through Coursera. The course examines the causes of the financial crisis of 2008 and policy responses to that crisis, as well as lessons for future crises. It includes lectures by several prominent Yale faculty members, including Nobel Prize-winning economist Robert Shiller, economist John Geanakoplos, and Roberta Romano of Yale Law School.
Metrick is the Michael H. Jordan Professor of Finance and Management and director of the Yale Program on Financial Stability. Geithner was the 75th Secretary of the Treasury, serving from 2009 to 2013. He is a lecturer at the Yale School of Management and chair of the Advisory Board of the Yale Program on Financial Stability.
