Philanthropist Jean Case to Speak at Yale Philanthropy Conference

The eighth annual Yale Philanthropy Conference will be held February 1 at the Omni Hotel in New Haven. This interdisciplinary forum explores salient topics in philanthropy to foster dialogue, strengthen networks, and cultivate leadership in the sector. It attracts more than 300 philanthropy professionals, foundation managers, corporate social responsibility officers, government leaders, and students.

The theme of this year's conference is "Integrated Perspectives Across the Sector." To view the full agenda, please visit the conference website.

Philanthropist Jean Case, CEO and co-founder of the Case Foundation, will present the keynote.

The conference will feature six sessions that are inspired by and named after multidisciplinary courses in the Yale School of Management's integrated MBA curriculum, which teaches students to understand business in a broad context. The State & Society roundtable will address how and where philanthropy can play a role in strengthening America. The Competitor panel will explore when organizations should collaborate, and when they should go it alone. The Employee panel will discuss how organizations can effectively attract and nurture talent in the social sector. The Innovator panel will highlight new and untested models of philanthropy, as well as the risks and challenges of innovation. The Customer panel will explore the role of consumers and brand identity as increasingly important forces as the social sector expands beyond its traditional boundaries. A plenary session focused on the 10×10 global action campaign to raise awareness for girls' education around the world will be presented as a case study and will feature a preview of the documentary film Girl Rising.

The panelists are leaders from organizations including the Alcoa Foundation, American Express Foundation, Carnegie Corporation, the Corporation for Enterprise Development, the Ford Foundation's JustFilms Initiative, Newman's Own Foundation, SeaChange Capital, and United Way Worldwide.

The Yale Philanthropy Conference is organized by student leaders from the Yale School of Management. It is the only conference in the industry that is planned by MBA students.
