Customer Insights Conference Brings Together Academics and Practitioners

The conference will examine issues relating to customer choices, innovation, brand performance, social media, and competitive marketing strategies.

The Yale School of Management Center for Customer Insights will host its seventh annual Customer Insights Conference on May 4 and 5 in New Haven. The conference, which includes presentations from both academics and business practitioners, will examine issues relating to customer choices, innovation, brand performance, social media, and competitive marketing strategies.

Joan Lewis, global consumer and market knowledge officer at Procter & Gamble, is the keynote speaker. Other industry speakers include marketers and executives from Nike, PepsiCo, Visa, Bluefin Labs, MTV, Microsoft, Activision, and Lippincott.

More than a dozen research papers will be presented, including an examination of the relationship between education, wealth, and the purchase of generic brands; a study looking at how the method of customer acquisition for a web service impacts the usage of that service; and a series of experiments investigating the psychological and neurological mechanisms of consumer-brand relationships.

"This forum is at the heart of the center's mission to generate knowledge at the frontiers of customer behavior," says Ravi Dhar, George Rogers Clark Professor of Management and Marketing and director of the Center for Customer Insights. "We bring together leading academics and practitioners who share a passion for understanding and exchanging new ideas on understanding customers and markets."
