The Thurman Arnold Project completed the first known survey of antitrust attorneys employed by state Attorneys General. The survey was taken between February and April 2020. We hope to complete this survey annually.
- Most states have limited resources devoted to antitrust. States currently employ 151 full-time equivalent antitrust lawyers -- enough to fill four school buses or one New York City subway car.
- Twenty-seven states have fewer than three full-time attorneys working on antitrust enforcement.
- Enforcement resources are concentrated in six states; California, New York, Florida, Texas, Washington, and Ohio employ nearly half of all state-level antitrust lawyers.
