Tuesday, Apr 13 2021 at 12:00 - 1:00 pm EDT
Yale Center for Business and the Environment and Yale’s Tsai CITY presents “What’s innovative about international climate governance?”. A massive intergovernmental body like the United Nations might not be the first institution that comes to mind as a paragon of environmental innovation. However, the world of international governance has yielded an impressive amount of environmental progress over the last few decades. Learn more from global governance scholar Maria Ivanova (Ph.D.’06), as she discusses her new book “The Untold Story of the World’s Leading Environmental Institution: UNEP at 50” in conversation with former classmate Monica Araya (Ph.D.’06) of Climate Champions and the ClimateWorks Foundation.
Maria’s book offers a thoughtful account of the origin and evolution of the UN Environment Programme and how it continues to model global innovation 50 years after its founding. Monica will bring her perspective as an international transport campaigner working to guide deep decarbonization strategies and share the need for champions at different levels.
