Master Class with Professor Robert J. Shiller (Washington, D.C.)

Thursday, Oct 3 2019 at 6:00 - 8:30 pm EDT

All Yale SOM alumni and their guests are invited to join a Yale SOM Master Class taking place at the National Press Club on Thursday, October 3rd. Professor Robert J. Shiller will deliver a 60-minute master class drawn from his new book, Narrative Economics: How Stories Go Viral and Drive Major Economic Events. Professor Shiller will lead a discussion about how to understand and predict major economic events better by taking account of popular economic narratives as they change through time. Issues relate to fake news, economic confidence, and financial crises. The book is an outgrowth of his 2017 American Economic Association Presidential address: https://cowles.yale.edu/sites/default/files/files/pub/d20/d2069.pdf. The evening will close with a networking reception at which appetizers and beverages will be served.
