Walt Disney Imagineering (WDI) is the creative force that dreams up, designs, and builds all Disney theme parks, resorts, attractions, and cruise ships worldwide. WDI’s unique strength comes from a dynamic global team of highly skilled and deeply passionate Imagineers who build on the Disney legacy of storytelling to pioneer new forms of entertainment through technical innovation and creativity.
The Design + Innovation and Media and Entertainment Clubs will host a discussion with Kareem Daniel, head of Global Business Operations, and Ann Morrow Johnson ’14, creative producer. They will discuss their careers at Disney, projects they are working on, and future plans for the company.
Yale SOM taught me to think about the problem as a whole, rather than focusing on its individual parts, which has been invaluable at Disney. We approach designing entirely new vacation experiences and their corresponding business strategies as a single design challenge.
I was a dual degree with SOM and Yale School of Architecture. At that time, I believed I would go into adaptive reuse. But my SOM summer internship with Walt Disney Imagineering allowed me the opportunity to apply my skills and interests on a new level. I found myself designing completely new worlds on a grand scale but…in a way that felt custom-built and personal for each of our guests. It’s one thing to build something; it’s another to create an experience that immerses you in a story that leaves a lasting impression. Ann Morrow Johnson ’14, Producer, Disney Imagineering
