Peter Thiel, the founder of Founders Fund, PayPal and Palantir Technologies, shows us how to build a great business from scratch in his best-selling book "Zero to One". However, for those with a good amount of corporate work experience, moving to the world of entrepreneurship is not as simple as starting from ground zero. A Hong Kong-born and bred Chinese, Vince Chan is a serial entrepreneur, angel investor, published book author, and columnist. She has progressed her corporate career through Deloitte & Touche, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Goldman Sachs, Hong Kong Monetary Authority, Standard & Poor's and TCW Asset Management in Asia and the U.S. Before transforming from corporate to entrepreneurship, she was the Head of Asia Pacific at L.A.-headquartered TCW Asset Management, launching, raising and managing the world's first diversified corporate CDS fund using Long-Short Strategy (US$700mn). Since 2009, she has been involved in a few startups as founder, co-founder and founding team member, including: * Originated China's first SME-credit-focused mezzanine fund concept and established partnership with Beijing's Harvest Fund Management (affiliate of Deutsche Asset Management) * Developed research capabilities for Asia’s first independent fixed income brokerage venture, which was acquired by Marex Spectron (UK commodities brokerage) * Founded single-handedly education consultancy and set up new unit at New Oriental (NYSE: EDU). A CFA Charterholder and a U.S. CPA, Vince has graduated from the University of Toronto with High Distinction (B.Com.),Yale University (M.B.A.) and the University of Chicago (M.B.A.).
