Monday, Mar 12 2012 at 10:00 pm - Tuesday, Mar 13 2012 at 2:00 am EDT

Venue: My Humble House On behalf of the Yale School of Management and the Jackson Institute for Global Affairs, we are very pleased to invite you to a Yale alumni dinner hosted by SOM Dean Edward Snyder and featuring Jeffrey Garten and Stephen Roach on Monday, March 12, 2012 at 6:00 pm. Snyder recently came to Yale from the University of Chicago Business School, where he was the dean for a decade. Garten and Roach are co-leading a Yale SOM study trip in March during which students will learn about China in global financial markets. Jeffrey Garten is a professor and former dean at Yale SOM. As the Under Secretary of Commerce for International Trade in the Clinton administration, he helped to prepare negotiations for China's entrance into the World Trade Organization (WTO). Garten also ran Lehman Brothers' investment banking business in Asia. Stephen Roach teaches at both SOM and the new Jackson Institute, including a course on "The Next China". He is a non-executive chairman of Morgan Stanley, Asia, and former Chief Economist at Morgan Stanley. Roach has been a noted authority on China for many years. At the dinner, Dean Snyder will make some remarks about his impressions of Yale as a new dean and his plans for the School of Management. Then Garten will interview Roach on a wide range of topics relating to the world economy in general, and China's position in particular. Following this discussion, Roach will personalize and sign copies of the Chinese version of his book, Stephen Roach on the Next Asia: Opportunities and Challenges for a New Globalization.
