Position Focus: 

Serve as leader for a new program associated with Yale Center for Customer Insights (YCCI). The Yale Program on Stakeholder Innovation and Management (Y-SIM) at the Yale School of Management (Yale SOM) is an exciting new initiative being established in 2022 to address how enterprises, both for- and not-for-profit, create value for all the stakeholders who matter to their success. The Program will collaborate with YCCI, the International Center for Finance, and other Yale SOM groups to develop new knowledge, tools, and frameworks that can help shape a new leadership mindset, foster adoption, and ultimately help leaders to create multi-stakeholder value. It is expected that the Program will also collaborate with industry partners and other academic institutions.  

Essential Duties: 

The Y-SIM portfolio aims to advance the mission of Y-SIM through academic research and knowledge acquisition, experimentation with industry partners via the Program’s Stakeholder Innovation Lab, and the teaching and dissemination of knowledge (case studies, content creation). The Director will be an integral part of Y-SIM leadership, working with the program’s leaders -- YCCI Executive Fellow and two faculty co-directors – and collaborating with the YCCI Executive Director and the YCCI staff. The Director will be responsible for successful project leadership and management; managing and cultivating partner relationships and experiences; marketing and development.

Project Leadership:

  1. Manage all operational aspects of Y-SIM projects, including working with faculty leads and corporate partners to scope projects, draft proposals and execute timelines.
  2. Oversee the progress of Y-SIM Case Studies from concept to dissemination.  This may include, for example, working with case writers to establish clear timelines and collaborating with internal stakeholders at Yale to establish a new platform for sharing case content. 
  3. Help establish and operate the Program’s Stakeholder Innovation Lab – real-world collaborations with the Program’s Knowledge Partners and corporate partners to prototype, iterate and refine frameworks, methods and tools developed by the Programs. This will include establishing clear KPIs to measure success. 
  4. Collaborate with leaders in industry to advance new thinking on stakeholder capitalism. This will be accomplished via management of multiple knowledge acquisition workstreams including, for example, conversations with industry leaders and the allocation of budget to faculty research initiatives. 

Experience Management:

  1. Work collaboratively to develop and deploy and experience strategy for working with key stakeholders such as Knowledge Partners, corporate partners, faculty, and the Y-SIM Board of Advisors.
  2. Deliver a high-touch, professional experience for the partners engaged in projects with Y-SIM. Identify new ways to articulate the value that Y-SIM can bring to the organization.
  3. Support a world-class Advisory Board, including developing a clear cadence of updating key stakeholders on Y-SIM progress and initiatives.
  4. Design and manage events that elevate the brand presence, such as the Y-SIM Design Conference.

Program Marketing:

  1. Work collaboratively to develop and deploy an integrated brand and marketing strategy for Y-SIM, which includes clear and measurable goals, content creation, and collection of KPIs.
  2. Oversee social media presence to elevate the brand with key stakeholders.
  3. Drive required content/asset creation with key stakeholders and agencies. Ensure all content reflects vision and voice and aligns to the overall Yale SOM brand guidelines.
  4. Monitor the external landscape (i.e., marketing and stakeholder capitalism news) and be an expert source of sector and market intelligence for strategic planning. Frame content to drive cultural and situational relevance, while maintaining awareness of the Center’s identity. 
  5. Work closely with YCCI leadership, Yale SOM Executive Fellows/Stakeholder Capitalism Leads, Yale SOM Communications, and other academic Center partners to collate ideas and share progress, learnings, and outcomes.

Required Education & Experience:

Bachelor’s degree and seven years of work experience in a related field, such as Insights, Marketing Management or Consulting, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required Skills & Abilities:

  1. Proven project leadership and marketing management experience (at the rank of director or higher, consultant or market expert at a leading management consultancy (rank of senior associate, engagement manager or higher). Ability to easily transition from a broad strategic perspective to a tactical, action-oriented approach.
  2. Proactive, creative, problem-solving approach. Ability to identify and anticipate organizational needs, establish priorities, then plan, execute and deliver on varying simultaneous projects in a timely manner. Proven organizational skills. Ability to work in a fast-faced, results oriented environment.
  3. Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with people at all levels of an organization. Team player who works well with the Executive Fellow, YCCI staff and faculty. Superior interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively for communication inside and outside of Yale.
  4. Excellent planning skills: attention to detail, information organization, timeline tracking, and comprehensive communication across many teams and at all organizational levels. Strategic and innovative thinking to recognize opportunities.
  5. Strong leadership skills and an ability to motivate and engage others in a vision, even without any formal reporting structure, through communication, modeling appropriate behavior, optimism, and high achievement. Customer service focus to understand affiliate partners’ needs and proactively respond to those needs in a consistent and timely manner.
  6. Demonstrated ability to translate strategy into executional excellence.
  7. Experience in content creation and deployment, customer experience, and/or social media marketing.
  8. Superior oral and written communication skills.

Experience as a senior marketing leader (at the level of director of senior director), or in a top tier management consulting firm (at a senior associate or engagement manager level). MBA or relevant Master's degree. Global orientation; experience working across countries and regions, and fluency in more than one language.
