The countdown begins...

July 31, 2009

I am still surprised that business school is actually about to start in a little less than 2 weeks. I think right now is a feeling that (depending on the hour) is a mixture of excitement, anticipation and I would be lying if I didn’t say trepidation. The last few weeks/months have been a flurry of activity - wrapping up jobs, finding apartments in New Haven, and sorting out all the other associated paperwork that goes with a major life change. As a current denizen of Manhattan's Upper East Side, I personally cannot wait to live in an apartment that has a kitchen and a living room. I've also been visiting my parents in India, and despite the 100 degree weather, the time off has been fun - but I am ready to get started! I am halfway through the summer reading for everyone in my class- The Mystery of Capital by Hernando de Soto and I'm not yet quite sure what I make of it. To be honest, I have spent more time on New Haven Zagat - Pepe's comes highly recommended by everyone who hears I am moving to New Haven and I enjoyed Bentara during Welcome Weekend. Speaking to a lot of folks at the admitted student events in New York, there should be a good number of people living in my neighborhood (East Rock) - having had the opportunity to meet my classmates-to-be over the summer as well as virtually through the Class of 2011 website, its been interesting getting to know people and see what interesting career trajectories they've had. It certainly speaks to the strength of SOM that our relatively small class is so diverse in terms of experiences and the unique value that each member of the Class of 2011 brings. I'm looking forward to meeting everyone this fall - and to finally checking out Pepe's!
