Yale SOM in Africa: Ghana and Nigeria
As director of community and inclusion at Yale SOM, I am traveling in West Africa on behalf of the school with the Yale Africa initiative, meeting with Yale alumni, prospective students, schools from the Global Network for Advanced Management, and Africa-based companies and organizations.
Part I: Accra, Ghana, and Lagos, Nigeria

Ghana Alumni Event
July 7, 2015
I am joined here by Yale Africa Director, Eddie Mandhry, as we meet SOM alumni in Accra, including Mr. Blankson, Mr. Adu-Poku, Mr. Gadzekpo and Mr. Ofori-Atta.
Ashesi University in Accra, Ghana
July 8, 2015
While at Ashesi University, a premier undergraduate college in Ghana, we noticed this photo. There is so much interest in visiting Yale through the Global Pre-MBA program that a student used it to inspire his classmates to take the step to get a passport. This was one of many flyers he created to help encourage his classmates to take global trips.
Alumni Event in Accra, Ghana
July 8, 2015
Here are current students Tim Sullivan and Eric Lockhart with an alumnus Frank Gadzekpo ’89 (center) in Accra, Ghana. Tim and Eric are spending their time in Ghana (and Cote D’Ivoire) researching small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the region through a partnership with the University of Ghana Business School (a GNAM partner) and sponsored in part by the SOM Internship Fund. All three participated in the meet-and-greet session in Accra for prospective students. It was wonderful to see the past and the present together and the ties that bind all Yale SOM students—including a shared commitment to business and society.
Lagos, Nigeria
July 10, 2015
This photo is taken in the auditorium of a Global Network for Advanced Management partner school, Lagos Business School (LBS). We had a wonderful day of meetings there on behalf of Yale SOM Global Initiatives.
