Startup Yale Goes Virtual

Last week, hundreds of remote spectators watched student entrepreneurs pitch their ventures as part of the first ever virtual Startup Yale. Startup Yale hosted five individual prizes taking place between 16 - 17 April 2020, that saw student founders from across campus compete for cash prizes that ranged from $10,000 to $25,000. Thorne Prize for Social Innovation in Health or Education
The Thorne Prize for Social Innovation in Health or Education is $25,000 cash prize is awarded by InnovateHealth Yale to the best student-led venture focused on social innovation in health or education.

Rita Wilson Prize Fund in support of Innovation and Entrepreneurship
The Rita Wilson Prize Fund in support of Innovation and Entrepreneurship is a $10,000 cash prize awarded by InnovateHealth Yale to the best student-led venture focused on creating a technological solution to address a health disparity in the United States.

Sabin Sustainable Venture Prize
The Sabin Prize, managed by the Yale Center for Business and the Environment, awards a $25,000 cash prize to a student-led team with the most promising venture to advance a more sustainable way of life. This year, four Sabin Finalists will pitch their ventures during Startup Yale to receive feedback from judges, which will help guide them as they continue to develop their ventures over the summer. The prize money will be awarded at a subsequent event this fall.

Rothberg Catalyzer Prize @ Yale
This $15,000 cash prize is awarded by the Yale Center for Biomedical Innovation and Technology and the Tsai Center for Innovative Thinking to the best student-led venture focused on developing an innovative hardware and/or AI solution to a medical challenge.

New Haven Civic Innovation Prize
The New Haven Civic Innovation Prize is a $10,000 cash prize awarded to the best student-led venture, project, or policy focused on benefitting the city of New Haven.
