Six Student Entrepreneurs Selected for Yale Entrepreneurial Institute Fellowships
Six Yale SOM students will spend the summer developing their startup ventures as fellows at the Yale Entrepreneurial Institute.
The students’ four startups are among the 11 Yale ventures selected for the 10-week summer program, which provides entrepreneurs with $15,000, mentors, access to corporate partners, and the support of YEI’s network of peers and experts.
The winning startup teams were chosen from a record 58 applications representing 138 applicants. Teams including Yale SOM students include:
- Bite (Jeff Hong ’15, Stas Nikiforov): A digital menu that allows diners to place orders, request checks, and split bills.
- Hugo & Hoby (Frederick Kukelhaus ’16, Benjamin Young ’16): High-quality, highly customizable, and sustainably manufactured furniture.
- Revai (Jesse Rich ’16, Jen Gaze ’16; Dr. John Geibel of the Yale School of Medicine; Joseph Zinter of the Yale School of Engineering & Applied Science): A medical device that supplies organs in transport with fluid, extending the time donor organs can be safely stored and transported.
- Saphlux (Chen Chen ’16; Prof. Jung Han of the Yale School of Engineering & Applied Science): A high-efficiency, high-power, low-cost LED chip expected to be 10 times more efficient than current products.
