Photos: International Experience 2019—South Africa
In March, students in the International Experience course traveled to the Balkans, China, Israel, India, Japan, New Zealand, Peru, and South Africa to learn about local business environments and cultures—and sent back photos of their experiences.
Can South Africa teach us about inclusive and sustainable growth? South Africa provides a deeply challenging and inspiring landscape to explore this issue. After nearly two decades of sustained growth following Apartheid, the South African economy is slowing down. More than one in four adults are unemployed and social unrest is on the rise. Yet, there are many reasons to remain optimistic. The country has developed impressive financial and manufacturing sectors, has vibrant entrepreneurial and NGO communities, and political change seems to be on the horizon.

About International Experience Courses at Yale SOM
The International Experience course serves as a case study in learning about the complexities of a business environment from a leader's point of view. The course begins with a half semester of classroom study and culminates with a 10-day trip to one or more business capitals, during which you'll visit companies and meet political leaders. The course gives you an enhanced ability to think globally that will be valuable for the rest of your time at Yale and beyond.
