Looking Back at Black History Month at Yale SOM
All month long, students documented life at Yale with a series of Instagram takeovers.
Black History Month is a unique time for us as a community to come together and celebrate the accomplishments and contributions of Black people across the United States and around the world. While the month-long celebration in February is an important time to highlight the voices and experiences of Black people, it is equally important to continue to focus on the work, empowerment, and advancement of Black people after the month is over.
At Yale SOM, our celebration included a series of student Instagram takeovers, in which students engaged with our @YaleSOM followers, documenting a day in the life at Yale. The Community and Inclusion team and our student-led Black Business Alliance also hosted a full lineup of events: through BHM programming, we learned about Blacks in Tech, ate gumbo with Chef Dave, listened and took a deep dive into the Black Music Experience, networked with Black SOM alums, and had a meaningful conversation with students about Being Black at Yale.
