Last Week at Yale SOM: Conference Focuses on ‘The New Health Care Industry’

A two-day conference on the state of the healthcare industry brought about 100 Yale Law School alumni, academics, healthcare industry leaders, students, and others to Edward P. Evans Hall on the evening of November 12.

The reception and dinner was part of the inaugural conference of Solomon Center for Health Law and Policy at Yale Law School, titled “The New Health Care Industry: Integration, Consolidation, Competition in the Wake of the Affordable Care Act,” As participants mingled, they had the opportunity to browse information on healthcare research and innovation at Yale on workstations set up on the Evans Hall concourses.

The two-day conference was co-sponsored by Yale SOM, the Yale Journal of Health Policy, Law, and Ethics, the Yale Law and Business Society, Yale Medical School, Health Affairs, and the National Academy for Social Insurance. It featured a keynote address by Kathleen Sebelius, former secretary of Health and Human Services, as well as talks and panels focusing on how the public and private sector can bring their strengths to bear on issues of health law and policy.
