Job Trek Opens Doors, Starts Conversations

On the week of November 28, six MBA students and two MAM students participated in Yale SOM fourth annual Mexico City Job Trek. The group visited a total of 13 companies, covering a wide spectrum of industries. The objective was to engage in fruitful conversations with recruiters about potential careers in Mexico and Latin America. Yale SOM hosted the job trek with the help of our career development office representative Nataly Robalino and the Yale SOM Latino Leadership Association. Companies such as Unilever, Google, McKinsey Consulting, and Bank of America – Merrill Lynch opened their doors to SOM students. This multi-industry trek enabled students to compare and assess various career paths in a condensed yet effective three-day program.

Besides recruiting visits, the Barclay’s Mexico President and Mexico City SOM Alumni Chapter President Raul Oslos-Martinez, hosted the group at his company’s headquarters office. The conversation not only provided insightful career advice, but it also served as the beginning of conversations for the organization of the school’s first Latin America Business Conference. The trek concluded with a celebration and a full day of sightseeing around the capital’s most pre-eminent sites such as El Palacio de Bellas Artes.
