From the Director of Admissions: Resources for Building a Strong Application in 2020

Joanne Legler shares the resources available to better acquaint prospective students with the MAM program and the Yale SOM community.

For most of you, the new year probably already feels well underway. As you consider and begin to solidify your plans for 2020 and beyond, the Yale SOM Master of Advanced Management program may be a serious part of your considerations. If you conclude that this is the right year for you to apply to our program, you should know that our Round 2 deadline is just around the corner—February 25, 2020. A Round 2 application is a great option if you hope to join us for the Class of 2021 in August. And, while we encourage you to apply in Round 2, you do have the option of applying in our third—and final—round, which has a deadline of April 14, 2020.

As you work on your application, I encourage you to make use of many of the great resources the Office of Admissions makes available to help you learn more about the program, which can, in turn, help you create an even stronger application for admission. Understanding as much as possible about Yale SOM and the MAM program can be instrumental as you craft your essays and prepare for a possible interview with our team.

  • Admissions Webinar: This webinar includes an introduction to the program from our admissions staff, including the unique features of the MAM curriculum, and the opportunities to engage in the larger SOM community. You’ll also get an overview of the admissions process, including some helpful tips from me and my colleague Kate.
  • Student Panel Webinar: My colleague Kelsey moderated a terrific panel of talented MAM students, who brought all of their energy and enthusiasm to the webinar. Taking the time to watch this recording will not only give you some insider information on being a student at Yale, but it will also hopefully inspire you to want to become part of the SOM and MAM community.
  • Admissions Ambassadors: I always say that our current students are the very best resource for learning more about the MAM program and the experience of being a Yale student. Check out our website to virtually meet some of our current students and reach out to ask them questions; you can filter by Global Network school, find someone who shares your master’s degree experience, or browse through the profiles to connect with someone by citizenship.
