Joanne Legler highlights online resources that can help you learn more about the Global Business and Society program.
The Round 3—and final—deadline for the GBS program is right around the corner! If you’re considering an application for the Class of 2020, I encourage you to take advantage of many of the great resources the Yale SOM Office of Admissions makes available online. Given that the majority of our prospective students are located outside the United States, this is also a great way to connect to the program without traveling to New Haven.
One particular resource I would like to highlight is our webinars. Over the last few months, my colleagues and I, along with some special guests (our students!), have hosted two informative webinars for our prospective students. The webinars have included and focused on:
- A Virtual Presentation on the GBS Program: To kick off our application cycle, Assistant Dean Melissa Fogerty and I introduced participants to the GBS program. This was a great opportunity to discuss the mission of Yale SOM, the unique features of the GBS program and the Global Network for Advanced Management, and how the program complements an MIM (or equivalent degree).
- GBS Student Panel: During this panel, current GBS students spoke with Assistant Dean Melissa Fogerty about their experience at Yale SOM. Topics included things like where to live in New Haven, how to choose elective courses, and what clubs and groups they are part of.
Another great resource available on our website is a video that highlights the required GBS project with Synchrony. You’ll hear from students, Synchrony staff and Deputy Dean David Bach on the value of the partnership, the skills that students were able to hone over the week and unique value of the GBS program and its emphasis on teamwork.
Finally, I encourage you to get to know the students of the GBS program through our Community Profiles—find out why current student Paul Bashir loves being part of the Global Network for Advanced Management, and which Yale SOM committees current student Bruna Mazon from Brazil has joined.
We hope you enjoy these resources designed to bring the GBS experience to you, virtually. As always, the Office of Admissions welcomes your questions, and for those who are applying for our April 16 deadline—good luck!
