From the Assistant Dean for Admissions: An Exciting Start to the New Year at Yale SOM

Things have certainly begun on a high note here at Yale SOM. Even though spring semester classes do not begin at Yale until next Tuesday, January 19, the campus is already abuzz with activity. Last week, first-year students participated in investment banking “Super Week” internship interviews, and this week all the major consulting firms are on campus to interview. It’s been fun to see lots of very eager, earnest, and quite well-dressed students around campus.

In addition, there have been two important announcements in the past week, both focused on the deanship. First, last Thursday, Yale President Peter Salovey announced that  Dean Snyder was appointed for a second, five-year term, which will begin on July 1. (You may also have read that Dean Snyder was recently named "Dean of the Year" by Poets & Quants.)

I know that all of us here at SOM are extremely excited to have Dean Snyder’s continued leadership at the school.

Then, just two days ago, the school announced that Indra Nooyi ’80, the chairman and CEO of PepsiCo, has endowed the deanship at Yale SOM. Dean Snyder will be the inaugural Indra K. Nooyi Dean as a result of this wonderful gift to the school.
