Hello Yale SOM Alumni,
Ten months into my role as the Director for Community and Inclusion at Yale SOM, I am even more excited to be a part of this community. SOM is unique in that it is a place that celebrates and values the benefits that students from a diversity of backgrounds can bring. In addition to what you have heard from me regarding my work with recruitment and experience of students from some of our under-represented backgrounds, I look forward to working with Yale SOM Alumni Relations to help continue the strong affinity connection developed here at SOM into the experience of the alumni community.
To that end, we have created new subgroups within the SOM LinkedIn Alumni group: Alumni of Color, Alumnae Interests, and LGBT Alumni groups. These groups will be a great platform for you to connect with other alumni (and current students) with shared interests and backgrounds. These subgroups (open only to SOM alumni and current students) will be populated with updates throughout the year, so they will be the sources for you to learn about the events in which you can engage with our on-campus student clubs and prospective students.
I look forward to continuing to meet alumni through my travels to various cities around the country (and the globe) or right here on campus. For alumni in the San Francisco area, I will be hosting a Women in Management event on August 24 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Coffee Bar. If you live in the area, I hope you will be able to join me for what will be an interesting night of networking and exploring issues related to women in business.
In the meantime, should you have any questions about my role or any interest in becoming engaged with SOM’s diversity initiatives, please reach out to me at any time.
