Conference Focuses on Scaling Sustainable Solutions
Evans Hall is the site of Collaborating to Achieve Scale, a two-day conference exploring the potential of partnerships between business and environmental leaders.
Increasingly, business and environmental leaders are finding common ground in the pursuit of sustainability, and collaborations across sectors can leverage their respective strengths to achieve common goals. On July 16 and 17, Evans Hall will be the site of an exploration of the potential of these partnerships when the Yale Center for Business and the Environment (CBEY) joins the United States Business Council for Sustainable Development (US BCSD) and the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD) to present the two-day conference Collaborating to Achieve Scale.
Through hands-on sessions, presentations, and discussions, participants will consider the financial, policy, communications, and technological demands that must be met to successfully scale sustainability projects.
The conference will include a presentation by Lynda Clemmons of NRG and Jonathan Atwood of Unilever on the mutual benefits of the companies’ partnership, which will be streamed live on July 16 at 1:30 p.m. EDT.
Among the other scholars and industry leaders who will present and facilitate the conference’s sessions are Marian Chertow, associate professor of industrial environmental management, director of the Program on Solid Waste Policy, and director of the Industrial Environmental Management Program at the Yale School of Forestry & Environmental Studies; sustainable-business expert Andrew Winston, author of The Big Pivot: Radically Practical Strategies for a Hotter, Scarcer, and More Open World; sea-level expert John Englander, author of High Tide on Main Street: Sea Level and the Coming Coastal Crisis; and Professor Bradford Gentry, co-director of CBEY and a member of the faculty at Yale SOM and the Yale School of Forestry & Environmental Studies.
