Position Focus:

The Associate Director (AD) plans and participates in the recruitment, selection, and enrollment of applicants to the Yale School of Management (Yale SOM) MBA Program, with a particular focus on programs related to the enrollment of admitted applicants.

The AD works collaboratively with other SOM departments to ensure comprehensive and integrated delivery of the school’s mission. This position reports to the Director of Admissions, Operations and Enrollment.

Essential Duties:

  1. Plan and implement innovative programs and strategies for the Admissions Office related to yield activities, as well as alumni and student involvement. Compile key admissions data, analyze trends and outcomes, and recommend new approaches and strategies. Identify new opportunities to increase applications for admission and enhance yield of admitted applicants.
  2. Coordinate alumni and student involvement with admissions recruiting and yield activities and manage relationships with these populations.
  3. Manage planning and execution of admitted student weekends, including selecting and managing student leaders for the event, developing programming, creating communications for attendees, collaborating with the admissions team and external departments at Yale SOM, managing the event budget, and working with the Senior Admissions Operations and Events Specialist to plan logistics for the events.
  4. Review and evaluate applications to the MBA program and present candidates to the other members of the Admissions Committee. (All committee members are professional admissions staff.)  Contribute informed opinions regarding applicants’ final decisions.
  5. Interview and provide guidance and counseling to prospective students.
  6. Represent Yale SOM by speaking at events and interacting with prospective applicants.
  7. Serve as a liaison with organizations and individuals involved in the admissions process.
  8. Design and implement innovative projects based on the needs of the admissions office. 
  9. May be assigned to serve on key committees and to other projects or initiatives.
  10. Supervise staff members.
  11. May perform other duties assigned. 


Required Education & Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and four years of experience in a related area or an equivalent combination of education and experience. 

Required Skills & Abilities:

  1. Ability to initiate programmatic and individual activities while functioning in a team setting. Ability to handle multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
  2. Strong analytical and technical skills, including ability to work with advanced MS Office, complex databases, and spreadsheets.
  3. Exceptional oral and written communication skills required to interact effectively with a range of internal and external constituencies. 
  4. Strong organizational and superior interpersonal skills.
  5. Domestic and international travel possible.
  6. Proven commitment to diversity and inclusion, equity, and excellence.

Preferred:

MBA or other advanced degree. Four years of experience in higher education or a field consistent with career paths of management students. Slate (Technolutions) experience is a plus. Supervisory experience.
