Position Focus: 

In conjunction with the Admissions, Asset Management, and Community & Inclusion (C&I) teams, works to increase the diversity of the Yale School of Management (SOM) student body, with a primary focus on the MMS-Asset Management Program (MMS-AM). The Assistant Director (AD) will plan and participate in initiatives to attract and recruit the strongest and most diverse possible student body for the MMS-AM, as well as other Yale SOM programs. This position will manage diversity and inclusion-related programming, with a focus on increasing representation from historically under-represented groups in business. The position will report to the Deputy Director for Recruiting.

Essential Duties: 

  1. With members of the Admissions, Asset Management, and C&I teams, devise, develop, and implement recruitment strategies to increase the diversity of the MMS-Asset Management Program, and secondarily of other Yale SOM degree programs.  Lead and execute diversity events both on and off-campus. Collaborate with colleagues, students, and alumni to design programs.
  2. Initiate and develop strategic relationships with select Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), Hispanic Serving Institutions (HSIs), and Tribal Colleges in furtherance of admissions objectives.
  3. Work with colleagues to align MMS-AM recruiting efforts with other Yale SOM early-career programs, including the MBA Silver Scholars Program.
  4. Analyze data and drive strategic actions to ensure programmatic targets are met. Benchmark with peer institutions.
  5. Drive content for marketing, including lead generation, nurturing, and re-targeting. Serve as a thought leader working with staff, students, and alumni to produce content for blogs, events, newsletters, and websites. Create, manage, and maintain content for recruitment materials, including website and view book.
  6. May participate in other aspects of the admissions process as appropriate, such as application evaluation and interviewing.
  7. Perform additional functions incidental to activities in the Admissions Office to maintain the highest level of support.

Required Education & Experience:

Bachelor's degree in a related field and two years of experience in a related area or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  6. Creative mindset and innovative approach to continuously improve programmatic offerings to best reach desired audiences.
  7. Some evening hours and occasional travel to represent Yale SOM externally.


MBA or other advanced degree. Four years of experience in higher education or a field consistent with career paths of management student. Experience working in DEI and/or knowledge of diversity, equity, and inclusion in an organizational context. Prior experience and interest with program planning in higher education.
