Position Focus: 

The Assistant Director for Learning Delivery at the Yale School of Management (SOM), is responsible for managing a team of Learning Delivery Specialists to execute all assigned executive education programs, and assisting with developing new program initiatives, and planning events. Manage operational aspects of assigned programs/clients and ensure quality control for all domestic and international programs. Work collaboratively with the Learning Experience and Learning Operations team leads to ensure operational efficiency. Reports to the Assistant Dean and Executive Director for Executive Education.

Essential Duties: 

  1. Develop innovations and executive education program enhancements to improve customer satisfaction, program effectiveness, and operational efficiency. Work closely with department, school, and university administrative staff to ensure smooth program delivery and efficient operation of department.
  2. Work to ensure compliance with school and university policies.
  3. Manage the systematized documentation of operating processes and administrative protocols of the Learning Delivery team and work with the Operations team to ensure compliance with school and university policies. Develop and make recommendations on best practices and quality control for the department. Ensure consistency in program material templates and presentations.
  4. Develop strong working relationships with school, campus, community-based business partners, international stakeholders, Yale Center Beijing, and serve as an executive education liaison for SOM and the university. Develop and maintain positive rapport with client and program management staff.
  5. Serve as expert school-wide resource/consultant for program and event planning.
  6. Oversee Learning Design Specialists to develop, plan, and execute programs to consistent standards of operational excellence.
  7. Manage, supervise, and develop C&T and temporary staff, including student workers and/or interns who support Learning Delivery.
  8. Manage Learning Delivery Team’s coordination of travel logistics, room and meal selection and planning, and local transportation for assigned clients and prospects, and adherence to standards and processes amongst Learning Delivery team members regarding these logistics
  9. Work closely with Learning Design, faculty, and administrative team to direct the timely compilation, production, and distribution of course materials.
  10. Manage necessary advance and contingency planning to ensure smooth and successful execution of client learning initiatives.
  11. Serve as on-site troubleshooter for client programs, individual program participants, and resource for other team members. Independently resolve operational issues. Responsible for managing all activities necessary to plan and deliver programs of the highest quality both domestically and internationally. Work to ensure processes are followed, streamlined, and continually improved upon.
  12. May serve as liaison and resource with SOM IT for instructional technology. Collaborate in developing new applications for courses. Work with vendor for delivery of digital learning, serve as operational point of contact. Understand platforms and communicate with relationship managers and faculty. Work with SOM AV/IT to create and maintain student portal.
  13. Complete other projects as assigned.

Required Education & Experience:

Bachelor’s Degree in related field and three years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  1. Proficiency with Windows and Microsoft products.

  3. Superior interpersonal skills to interact effectively and represent the school well with participants, faculty, administrators, and corporate contacts.
  4. Excellent independent judgment, sensitivity, and knowledge of appropriate protocol, especially of other cultures and business customs.

  6. Ability to work successfully in a fast-paced and changing environment.
  7. Proven organizational skills, including the ability to organize and manage multiple projects and processes simultaneously.
  8. Demonstrated ability leading, managing, developing and coaching a team of direct reports. Demonstrated experience counseling and advising management teams in performance management, succession planning, performance improvement and policy interpretation and execution.
  9. Ability to work nights and weekends. Travel, including international.

Preferred:

Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality or field related to corporate education programs. Experience managing major corporate client relationships and/or events, managing multiple projects simultaneously, and facilitating the delivery of world-class service. Knowledge of database management systems and tools. Global orientation; experience working across countries and regions, and fluency in more than one language.
