Position Focus: 

The Assistant Director for Global Initiatives at the Yale School of Management (SOM) will contribute to the development and execution of plans to meet department and school goals related to global curricular and extra-curricular initiatives. A key focus of the position will be to manage aspects of Yale SOM’s participation in the Global Network for Advanced Management. The successful candidate will be a team player, have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to interact effectively with students, faculty, and administrators. Reports to the Assistant Dean of Global Network Programs and works collaboratively with the Global Initiatives team.

Essential Duties: 

  1. Manage the communication with all Yale SOM students to make them aware of the opportunities available with the Global Network for Advanced Management. 
  2. Ensure that students who participate in Global Network activities are supported.
  3. Provide strategic input and participate in the organization of Global Network programs, including communication with students, member schools, and faculty.
  4. Build strong working relationships with key contacts from member schools that will host or interact with Yale SOM students as part of Global Network programs.
  5. Collect and communicate feedback from students about their experiences in Global Network programs. Identify opportunities for program enhancements and work with the Global Initiatives team in the implementation of such improvements.  
  6. Manage lists of key contacts at other school members of the Global Network.
  7. In concert with the Assistant Dean and Associate Director, ensure that content on the Global Network for Advanced Management website is updated.
  8. Collaborate in the ideation and presentation to internal and external committees of new Global Initiatives.
  9. Lead and implement the execution of Global Network events and programs.
  10. Create and distribute content relevant to users on the Global Network Platform.
  11. Coordinate Global Network initiatives on the Global Network platform and facilitate ongoing training for internal and external personnel.
  12. Create and manage ongoing updates and Global Network priorities on the platform and communicate goals and ideas of the Network to developers.
  13. Support and manage other current and future Global Network initiatives, competitions, meetings, ambassador program, etc.
  14. May perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Education & Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in a related field and 3 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and related experience.

Required Skills & Abilities: 

  1. Proven organizational skills, including the ability to organize and manage multiple processes and projects simultaneously.
  2. Passionate about global intercultural exchange.
  3. Must be detail oriented.
  4. Ability to build and develop strong internal and external relationships.
  5. Superior interpersonal skills to interact effectively and represent the school well with students, faculty, and administrators.
  6. Proficiency with MS Suite, Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  7. Experience with or willingness to learn Qualtrics, MyEmma, Zoom, and learn software tools designed to collect and communicate information efficiently to broad audiences.
  8. Experience with social media platforms and eagerness to shape new user experiences.
  9. Superior demonstrated written and oral communication skills.
  10. Commitment to an inclusive workplace.


Global orientation; experience working across countries and regions, and fluency in more than one language.
