The On-Campus Interview Recruiting Steps

1. Submit Job Descriptions

Full-time on-campus job descriptions are due by August 29th and internship on-campus job descriptions are due by October 3rd. Submissions can either be made by requesting an interview date in the CDO recruiting system or by planning your visit with a Recruiting Coordinator.  Application deadlines are set by the employer, but must allow ample time for candidates to participate in the scheduling process.  Please contact a Recruiting Coordinator for more details.

2. Download Cover Letters/Résumés

Cover letters/résumés will be available in the CDO Recruiting System at 5:00 p.m. on the date of your application deadline.  Recruiters must login to the system and click “print résumés” to obtain your cover letter/résumé bundle.  If you are unable to access the application materials, please contact a Recruiting Coordinator for assistance.

3. Assemble Invitation Lists

Recruiters identify and select candidates by reviewing the applications submitted by students.  In addition, recruiters may wish to invite additional candidates identified in the Yale SOM Résumé Database or met through personal outreach. A finalized invite list is due back to the CDO by 12:00 p.m. (noon) two Fridays prior to the interview week, as indicated in the chart below. Failure to submit invite lists in time may result in the need to reschedule the on-campus interview date.

4. Receive Final Schedules

Tentative schedules will be visible to employers in the CDO Recruiting System throughout the recruiting process. The final schedule will be available in the CDO Recruiting System at 12:00 p.m. (noon) one business day prior to the interview. The CDO will provide you with a copy of your interview schedule on the day of your interviews.

5. Interview Candidates

  • On-campus interviews for full-time positions begin on October 6, 2014
  • Interviewing for internship positions begins on January 5, 2015, with SuperWeek, a dedicated week of banking interviews
  • Recruiting for all other internships commences January 12th, 2015
  • To ensure that employers participating in on-campus interviews have equitable access to job candidates, offer timelines, for both internship and full-time offers, should not preempt a student’s ability to participate in the on-campus recruiting (OCR) process.  Yale SOM recommends that students be allowed a decision period of four weeks during this time. (The OCR period is loosely defined as October-November for full-time offers and January-February for internship offers.)  An offer made from a summer internship should be left open until November 26th. 
  • As the on-campus period draws to a close, it is reasonable to expect a shorter timeframe for a candidate decision. If at any time a student feels that the amount of time granted is not sufficient for him/her to make a decision, the student should communicate to the firm how much time is required and why the time is needed. If the timeframe is still insufficient after this conversation, please contact the CDO to discuss next steps.
  • The CDO is equipped with videoconferencing capabilities.
  • Breakfast and lunch will be provided.
