Giving Catalog

There are a number of ways to support Yale SOM. Explore our list of opportunities, below. We invite you to call or write us with questions and to learn more about how your gift can make a difference.

Faculty Support

The Yale School of Management, guided by its mission to educate leaders for business and society, has been a pioneer in management education since its founding more than 30 years ago. The School’s future development and growth is directly dependent on its faculty, and especially on the addition of new faculty members, to build and strengthen specific areas of management expertise at the School. Endowing a New Initiatives Professorship enables Yale SOM to recruit a leading scholar into its academic community by adding an incremental faculty position.

One of the historic strengths of the Yale School of Management is the quality of its faculty; they are renowned academicians, practitioners, as well as thought-leaders in their fields. Awarded to an existing faculty member, an endowed professorship enables the School to maintain the stature and excellence of its faculty.

Every year, the Yale School of Management invites outstanding faculty members from other institutions to campus, and this exchange produces new dialogue, collaborative work, and fresh insight into current issues in management education. Endowed gifts to support these positions allow Yale SOM to recruit exceptional thought leaders and fund their full participation in the School’s activities.

Junior faculty members are emerging leaders in their respective fields who bring innovative perspectives on management problems and processes to their teaching at Yale SOM. Endowed gifts, such as the faculty fellowship for Non-Tenured SOM faculty, help the school to recruit, mentor, and benefit from the research and teaching of tomorrow’s leading scholars. Specifically, fellowships can be established to provide one-to-three year appointments to a top junior faculty member who then receives critical research support for such activities as research materials and data, conference participation, and research assistants.

Yale SOM seeks to offer unique post-doctoral fellowship opportunities for promising scholars from underrepresented groups who are pursuing tenure, by providing them with a place to research and have mentoring relationships with senior faculty. The fellowship would specifically support academics at tenure review milestones - third and sixth years of the process - to retain promising scholars in the academe. This fellowship will contribute to maintaining and expanding a pipeline of faculty of color.

Yale SOM students have unparalleled access to expertise through our world-renowned faculty of dedicated teachers and leading researchers who play an outsized role in shaping business theory, policy, and practice. Named faculty excellence awards can serve to retain our prominent academics and attract more exceptional scholars to join our faculty.

Yale School of Management faculty are renowned scholars, practitioners, and thought leaders in management education. The influence of their research is felt in the classroom, at Yale, and beyond. Endowed gifts to the SOM Faculty Support and Research Fund are critical to ensuring that Yale SOM continues to be a vital contributor in all fields of management research. Specifically, the school seeks to increase the number of Research Assistants who support the path-breaking research and data analysis conducted by SOM faculty. Having a strong team of research associates help SOM attract and retain the very best scholars in the field.

Research Assistants/Associates provide Yale SOM faculty with high-level support and contribute to innovative and impactful research. Your gift to supply our faculty with this important resource will help the school have a competitive advantage to attract and retain the best scholars in the field.

Scholarships and Student Support

Yale SOM offers the opportunity to pursue an MBA in combination with a degree from one of the university’s world-class graduate programs. The school has 10 joint-degree programs, which places us high among our peer business schools in terms of joint and/or dual degree programs offered.  These joint-degree programs are three years in length and are intended to prepare leaders who will bring a broad understanding and analytical thinking to whatever industry they work in. With a transformational gift, we would launch a unique and prestigious program to provide competitive scholarship funding to joint-degree students at Yale SOM. This program named in your honor (or a name of your choosing) would ensure that students who want to come to Yale for both an MBA and a graduate degree from another Yale school are not dissuaded because of financial constraints. This program would be singular across higher education and would advance the aspiration that Yale SOM be the business school most integrated with its home university.
