Welcome to the MAM Blog

I would like to welcome you to what will be the first of a series of regular blog posts on the MAM program.  We hope that these posts can help prospective students as well as members of the larger Yale community learn about the MAM.  The MAM is a new one-year degree program started this year by the Yale School of Management (SOM), open to recent MBA graduates from Global Network for Advanced Management schools.  The MAM is a prime example of Yale SOM’s move towards becoming the most global U.S. business school in ways that are differentiating and meaningful given how the world’s economy has developed.

During their year at Yale, MAM students have the opportunity to round out their MBAs by designing a course of study that allows them to go in depth in a specific subject such as Finance, or an issue such as Sustainability, or to explore a broad range of subjects/issues across all of Yale University, or take a balanced approach.  At the foundation of the MAM program and reflected in its core curriculum (which accounts for 20% of the required coursework) is a focus on preparing future leaders to expand their understanding of the complexities that have developed in the contemporary global market economy.  This is achieved through the Advanced Management Boardroom, the Advanced Leadership Development Program, the Global Challenges Colloquium and the Advanced Management Practicum. Furthermore as members of the Yale community, MAM students have access to distinguished campus visitors, the resources of the Yale School of Management’s Career Development Office and the Yale alumni network.  In the coming weeks and months the MAM Blog will feature posts from current MAM students who will provide personal accounts of their experience at Yale.

Speaking of current MAM students our inaugural cohort of 20 features students from China, Indonesia, Ireland, Italy, Mexico, Russia, Spain, South Korea, Turkey, Venezuela and Puerto Rico, representing Fudan University School of Management (China), Hong Kong University of Science and Technology Business School (China), IE Business School (Spain), INCAE Business School (Costa Rica), Koç University Graduate School of Business (Turkey), National University of Singapore Business School (Singapore), Renmin University of China School of Business (China), Seoul National University Graduate School of Business (South Korea), UCD Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School (Ireland), and University of Indonesia Faculty of Economics (Indonesia).

As for me, I am an American who has returned home after spending the past three years working for the World Economic Forum in Geneva, Switzerland.  One of my favorite aspects of working at the Forum and living in Geneva was my constant exposure to people of many nationalities and perspectives.  I am thrilled to have this aspect of my career continue through my work with the MAM program at Yale.
