Position Focus: 

The Relationship Manager (RM) will work in the Career Development Office at Yale School of Management at the intersection of business and education.  The RM will draw on knowledge of industry trends and understanding of MBA recruiting practices to coach students navigating the job search process, liaise with leading professional voices to maintain the network of recruiting organizations, and act as a conduit for innovation in the recruitment process.  This is a unique opportunity to advise and serve the student population as they shape the next steps in their careers while interacting directly with industry leadership seeking future top talent. Experience in Brand Management, Marketing, Retail, and other industries and/or as a recruiter in these particular sectors preferred.

Essential Duties: 

  1. Maintain and strengthen existing on-campus employer relationships through ongoing engagement with recruiters, hiring managers, alumni, and student clubs.
  2. Working in collaboration with Alumni and Clubs to identify new companies and organizations to generate job opportunities for Yale SOM students, both domestically and internationally.
  3. Have an active collaboration with Student Clubs in assigned area of coverage.
  4. Partner with the Career Education & Coaching team to develop and deliver career training programs, both online and in person.
  5. Identify opportunities for innovative career training and continuously seek new methods for connecting with students.
  6. Advise and Coach students in specific matters related to job search, interviews preparation and networking.

Required Education & Experience: 

Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field and five years of experience in a related area or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required Skills & Abilities: 

  1. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage projects involving a high degree of detail and requiring strong organizational skills.
  2. Strong knowledge of MBA career paths and job opportunities. Ability to make independent, responsible decisions that create positive outcomes for SOM students, alumni, and employers.
  3. Ability to understand industry and sector trends. Ability to develop and maintain contacts at different levels, from recruiters to senior executives, to increase and strengthen relationships between companies and Yale SOM. Ability to provide strategic guidance to employers.
  4. Ability to provide career advising and coaching to students. Excellent public speaking, presentation, and communication skills.
  5. Working knowledge of MS Office, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

Preferred: 

Minimum of five years of MBA recruiting, talent management, and/or corporate relationship experience in the private sector and/or higher education. MBA degree preferred and significant professional experience in one or more of industries assigned to cover. Global orientation; experience working across countries and regions, and fluency in more than one language can be a plus.
