In an address held on the second day of the orientation program for incoming MBA and MAM students, Peter Salovey, president of Yale University and the Chris Argyris Professor of Psychology, encouraged SOM students to become part of the larger Yale community, to take courses at other schools and departments at Yale, and to broaden their global horizons.

"We want this to be a school of management that is incredibly well connected to the rest of its university, while it is incredibly global at the same time," said Salovey. "That is a little bit of a paradox, with both local and global, but that is exactly the point. I strongly encourage you to look around you and around here, not only at Yale, but to get off the campus and see what New Haven has to offer."
