People who know me often get surprised when I tell them I am pursuing my MBA: they can’t imagine me getting out of my comfort zone, leaving my plush job at Deutsche Bank and trading the generally gala time in Mumbai for an uncertain (though exciting) two years. People who know me well aren’t. They know my mantra: you’ve got to play - to take risk - to win.

At my undergraduate institution, the University of Cambridge, I studied manufacturing engineering, being attracted to a point of view that put engineering into an industrial context. I knew before entering my college senior year that I wanted to enroll in a MBA program early in my career to contextualize the relationship between industry and society using similar systems thinking. For candidates like myself there were few formal options available among business schools.

Here at SOM we have a lot to be thankful for – our fabulous community of faculty and administrative staff, our new friends at the café and cafeteria who keep us caffeinated and well-fed, the teams who work tirelessly to keep our beautiful glass building sparkling and our classrooms clean, our IT department who keep our emails flowing and facilitate videoconferences with students and leaders from around the world, and many more.  We’re a lucky bunch.

I can’t believe that one quarter of my MBA program is now done! It’s a bitter sweet feeling. This time of the year is one of the busiest times as we are juggling internship applications, exams for our Core classes and everything else!
